Introduction

In 2004 the Crown Estate awarded the sea bed lease to Econventures, and together with SLP Energy they formed the joint venture Scira Offshore Energy to develop the wind farm

In 2004 the Crown Estate awarded the sea bed lease to Econventures, and together with SLP Energy they formed the joint venture Scira Offshore Energy to develop the wind farm. In 2005 StatoilHydro took a 50% stake in Scira Offshore Energy, acquiring 50% of the shares of both Econventures and SLP Energy, and in 2009 Statkraft acquired a 50% stake in Scira. Currently the wind farm is owned by Statoil (40%), Statkraft (40%) and the Green Investment Bank (20%). The construction began in 2009, and the wind farm was officially opened in 2012. The park consists of 88 Siemens 3.6MW turbines, totalling 316.8MW over an area of 35 km2.
